After what has felt like a never-ending break between races, the Minnesota based TCR team is ready to head into battle once again on very familiar grounds. Having started off the season with its new-gen Audi TCR machine, the team will look to build on the development they have done after finishing 5th at Daytona in January, and P8 at Sebring in March.
Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca hosts the third round of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Sportscar Championship in Monterey, California, a track which the team has had great speed at in the past. Unfortunately the team has never been able to collect any podium finishes in the previous three attempts. “Of all the rounds in the championship, I feel Laguna is one where the Unitronic JDC-Miller team always unloads a fast Audi for us right off the bat. We haven’t been able to convert that speed and qualifying performance into a solid result yet, so we’ll be looking to change that this weekend. Everyone in the team has put so much effort into developing this new car and I’m hoping we can reward all the hard work with some podium champagne.” said the South African driver, Mikey Taylor.
For the second event this year, the #17 entry will be dressed in its special Liqui Moly livery to commemorate the on-going technical partnership between Unitronic and the German marque. The event also serves as the closest round of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Championship to the Liqui Moly headquarters in Irvine, CA. “Unitronic has been a great partner of ours in past years. We’re very excited for the upcoming race at Laguna Seca and are crossing our fingers with hopes they’ll be taking the checkered flag in the Audi RS 3 TCR red, white, and blue LIQUI MOLY livery!!” said Eva Brendle Tran, Marketing Director LIQUI MOLY USA/CANADA.

The weekend will also play host to a milestone event for sister team, JDC-Miller MotorSport being the first North American customer to compete with the brand-new Porsche 963 LMDh prototype in the all new IMSA GTP class of the Weathertech Championship.
"Laguna is going to be a very important weekend for the entire team. For our Unitronic #17 we really want to kickstart our championship push with a great result. Coming off a successful test a few weeks ago, I’m confident we now have the car in a place where we should be contending for wins at nearly every event moving forward. We’ve been fast at Laguna the last couple years so I know the team knows how to setup a car capable of winning there. The weekend will also be particularly special because our JDC-Miller Motorsports team will also debut a new Porsche 963 in the WeatherTech Championship. My focus will be entirely on getting our Audi on the top step of the podium on Saturday but then it will be nice to stay and cheer on the rest of the team Sunday." said co-driver of the #17 Audi, Chris Miller.
