Monterey, CA — The Unitronic JDC-Miller Motorsports team continued its 2026 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge campaign this past weekend at the iconic WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, where the #17 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport battled through a demanding two-hour contest to secure a P14 finish in the GS class.
Starting from P16 on the grid, Chris Miller delivered a strong opening stint aboard the #17 Unitronic Porsche, steadily working his way forward through the field with confident, consistent pace. Navigating Laguna Seca’s technical layout—including the legendary Corkscrew—Miller made up significant ground and climbed as high as seventh position before handing the car over to co-driver Mikey Taylor.
With the car firmly inside the top ten and valuable track position gained, the team looked poised to challenge deeper into the field during the second half of the race. However, changing balance and handling issues made conditions increasingly difficult for Taylor to maintain pace, ultimately limiting the #17 Cayman’s ability to contest against a highly competitive GS field.
Despite the challenge, Taylor pushed through to the checkered flag, bringing the car home in P14. While the result fell short of the team’s ambitions, Laguna Seca once again highlighted encouraging pace and racecraft from the Unitronic JDC-Miller Motorsports program. Miller’s charge through the field demonstrated the strength of the package, while the weekend as a whole provided another important opportunity to gather data and further develop the setup of the #17 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport.
With three rounds now complete, focus shifts to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, where the team will look to apply what it has learned and continue building momentum through the heart of the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season. Want to know more about the team? Check out the trackside feature below!
