Throughout the company history of Unitronic, they have always strived to be on the leading edge of technology and development. The same can be said for JDC-Miller MotorSport who have always looked to take the next step in the motorsport ladder to be able to compete at the highest level. Together the two organizations have decided to, once again look to the future, and bring an end to the current 2022 IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge season on a high, following their victory at the Lime Rock Park 120 — now turning their attention to the 2023 season where Unitronic JDC-Miller MotorSport will be working towards competing with the brand new Gen2 Audi RS 3 LMS TCR based on the 2022 8Y Audi RS 3.

Unitronic campaigned the current Gen1 Audi TCR since 2019, chassis #114 manufactured in early 2017 is officially the oldest car in the IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge Championship but also the most successful Audi RS3 LMS TCR in North American history. Together with its previous owners; Britt Casey Jr. and Unitronic have amassed 8 victories, 15 podiums, and one IMSA championship from Britt Casey Jr in 2018. The legendary chassis has never been in a major incident and together with a lengthy list of spares, DSG conversion kits will be sold to the highest bidder in the near future.

Looking forward to the future, the Gen2 car from Audi Sport has been redesigned to improve all aspects of the Gen1 car, in particular driver ergonomics with a new steering wheel, dash, and pedal box. The aerodynamics have also been redesigned to help cooling in the engine bay, and increase overall downforce. The new car from the engineer in Neckarsulm also has a new EA888 engine, lighter flywheel and Hewland transmission. All of which will help the Unitronic JDC-Miller MotorSport team in their quest for an IMSA TCR championship in 2023.

Together with its partners at Liqui Moly and ZF/Sachs, Unitronic looks forward to working on the future 8Y platform which is now the base for A3, S3 and RS3 cars from Audi from 2022 onwards. As the team says “Race on Sunday, sell on Monday” has been the motto of the Unitronic racing program since the beginning and this decision to focus on the future platform will help speed up that streetcar development for all partners involved!

“One thing I have admired from day one of this program is that we are all in this together. We sat down as a team, discussed our options, listened to each other's point of view and came to a conclusion that works for everyone. That’s a true team, and that is why I believe this is the best program out there! It’s great to end on a high, and I’m really excited to get working on the new car as we prepare for a really strong assault in 2023. The current car has served us well, but every other team around us has gotten new cars every year and now we’ll have that advantage too!” said Mikey Taylor.

JDC-Miller MotorSports managing partner, John Church, had this to say about the future; “The Gen2 Audi TCR has large shoes to fill. We hope the Gen2 will turn out to be a solid evolution of the very successful Gen1 platform. We look forward to continuing our relationship with Audi and anticipate a very successful 2023!”
