Unitronic® Stage 3 ECU/TCU Performance Software is now available for the C8 RS 6® and RS 7® equipped with the 4.0TFSI EA825 (DJPB) engine and TheTurboEngineers 1020 Hybrid Turbochargers. With testing and validations completed, power outputs are increased by up to +336HP / +236LB-FT with Unitronic Stage 3 (93octane/98ron) Performance Software for a maximum of 936HP / 830LB-FT when combined with Unitronic's Stage 3 AL952 TCU Performance Software for seamless operation.* These software upgrades are entirely compatible with our UniCONNECT+ cable, empowering Clients to tune their vehicles directly through the OBD-2 port within minutes, from the comfort of their own home or garage.


C8 RS6 RS7 Dyno Stage 3

With extensive experience and a solid foundation of Performance Hardware and Software offerings for the C8 RS 6 and RS 7, Unitronic Engineers recalibrated the BOSCH MG1 ECU for use with the TTE1020 turbochargers (available from Unitronic), with total boost regulation control, optimized ignition timing, lambda, camshaft timing, and much more. Research and development continued with further dyno, track, and road testing while closely monitoring running conditions through high-speed data logging tools and equipment to ensure maximum performance is achieved, while maintaining complete OEM-like reliability and drivability.

Unitronic is proud to release its Stage 3 TCU Performance Software for the AL952 8-speed ZF gearbox, which is calibrated for use specifically with Unitronic's Stage 3 ECU Performance Software respectively. Unitronic Engineers identified gearbox originating torque limitations on the TCU side of the AL952 trasmission. In order to overcome these limitations, while ensuring proper torque management and operation, TCU Performance Software is required. Stage 3 TCU Performance Software calibrations necessarily increase the torque limiter to 1300Nm for seamless torque management and harmonious operation with the corresponding Unitronic ECU calibrations and further enhance the user experience.


Through earlier phases of the development program for this 4.0TFSI EA825 engine platform, and aided by empirical data collection and instrumentation, combined with Unitronic's extensive experience and expertise with Bosch engine controllers found in modern Audi vehicles, most recently with the MG1 variants powering Audi's 6- and 8-cylinder engine platforms, Unitronic Engineers uncovered many factory hard part limitations which inhibit maximum performance either through efficiency short-comings or airflow restrictions. In the case of the 4.0TFSI engine, Unitronic found the factory turbo inlets, intake system, and intercoolers to be the largest limiters. In the case of the intercoolers, the factory units quickly heat soak, losing their ability to keep charge air temperatures at reasonable levels before the ECU's logic intervenes to reduce output based on IATs being too high.

The modern Bosch MG1 ECU's, similar to those found in previous generations, are highly intelligent controllers that can effectively adapt to environmental and operational data collected from the system's sensors to ensure an unmatched level of reliability in ever-changing conditions. Unitronic Engineers further enhance these models to ensure an unmatched OEM-like level of reliability without compromise, while simultaneously engineering Performance Hardware upgrades that will solve critical short-comings present with the factory hardware. Similarly, Unitronic's Turbo Inlets and Carbon Fiber Cold Air Intake System for the C8 RS6 and RS7 addresses air-flow restrictions on the pre-compressor intake side, providing an increase in compressor efficiency. With these upgrades combined, Unitronic Engineers were able to achieve increased performance and boost pressures through reducing turbocharger shaft speed made possible only with its expertly engineered performance hardware that functionally and aesthetically performs to the absolute maximum. With such, Unitronic ECU Performance Software calibrations are engineered to stay safely within the maximum turbocharger speed limits. Unique to the Unitronic Turbo Inlets, Unitronic's modular inlet adapter rings and the TTE1020-specific 60mm units ensure smooth, transient airflow into the compressors. These Unitronic TTE1020-specific 60mm Turbo Inlet Adapter Rings are available for purchase separately, for those who've already picked up the complete system for the stock turbochargers.

As a result, Stage 3 Performance Software power output is made possible with the TTE1020 Hybrid Turbochargers, Unitronic's Carbon Fiber Intake System and Turbo Inlets, Unitronic Performance Downpipes and CSF High-Performance Intercooler System for C8 RS 6/RS 7, which are all required to achieve advertised power figures and assure vehicle reliability. Additionally, and continuing with Unitronic's dedication to OEM-like reliability, Unitronic's 4bar TMAP Sensor Upgrade is required, as boost pressure exceeds the limits of the factory 3bar sensors, making it necessary to upgrade for additional resolution. Without this upgrade, boost pressure would exceed the factory limits, and inhibit the ECU from properly controlling boost pressure above the factory sensor resolution. The accompanying Stage 3 ECU Performance Software includes the necessary TMAP sensor scaling adjustments, therefore allowing proper closed loop boost regulation**.

Optimized Responsiveness, Smoothness, Drivability, and Comfort

Unitronic’s ECU calibrations are engineered to improve engine response and reduce low-end lag. Unitronic’s Performance Software has gained worldwide recognition and is well known for its broad powerband, with smooth power delivery, maximizing responsiveness and “area under the curve”, under normal and hard acceleration.

Ignition Timing Precisely Calibrated for Higher Octane Fuel

Engine calibration optimized to take advantage of higher fuel quality to extract maximum energy from the combustion. Therefore, when using a higher octane fuel, more power and better fuel efficiency will be achieved.

Optimized Maximum Output

Unitronic’s ECU Calibrators deliver the maximum power output while staying within the operational limits of the factory engine and drivetrain components. Specifically, this results in the highest engine performance without sacrificing the reliability of the engine, turbocharger, or other engine and drivetrain components.

Factory Safety Limiters Retained

OEM “fail safes” are retained within the ECU calibration. Close monitoring of all operation parameters ensures that engine operation stays within factory components limits, resulting in reliability.

Power Delivery Perfectly Optimized Throughout the Power Band

Aligned with the OEM strategy, the calibration is designed to offer a large flat torque plateau to provide a smooth and linear power band. Maximum torque output is achieved sooner and maintained longer which creates a broader torque plateau and greater area under the curve. This results in an improved acceleration and optimal engine operation.

Speed Governor Removed

Vehicle speed limiter within ECU is removed. (Subject to transmission rotational speed limit.)

Standing RPM (soft) limiter increased from 3k to 5k RPM

Once the vehicle has reached FULL operating temperature, it can be revved to a maximum of 5k RPM in Park or Neutral.

Optimized timing and injection in cruising condition allows for an improved fuel efficiency, under normalized driving conditions.

**Proper boost regulation with Unitronic Stage 3 ECU Performance Software relies partly on the physical wastegate calibration on these TTE turbochargers. TTE is committed to consistent wastegate calibrations through their production line. Unitronic strongly recommends checking and validating wastegate preload is calibrated to 0.7 bar/10 psi. It is much easier to check wastegate preload prior to installing the turbochargers onto the vehicle, therefore, we strongly recommend checking this prior to installing the turbochargers.
